Reducing Rolls
Reducing rolls are applied in mills that produce tubes with smaller diameters or thinner wall thicknesses. They reduce the outer diameter or wall thickness of the tube while maintaining uniformity and surface quality. These rolls require high hardness and wear resistance to withstand continuous pressure from stainless steel materials.
Welding Rolls
Welding rolls, also known as squeeze rolls, are used to press the two edges of the formed stainless steel strip tightly together during the high-frequency welding process. They ensure stable and uniform welding gaps, so that the weld seam is firm, flat and free of porosity or cracks. The structure and surface smoothness of welding rolls directly affect weld quality and appearance.
Guide Rolls / Edge Rolls
Guide rolls are auxiliary rolls used to control the position and stability of the stainless steel strip before forming. They prevent the strip from deviating, control edge lifting, and ensure stable feeding into the forming stations. For thin stainless steel strips, proper guiding helps reduce surface defects and improves overall forming consistency.
Turks Head Rolls
Turks head rolls are multi-roll assembly tools used for precision shaping of tubes, especially for roundness correction, dimension fine-tuning and surface finishing. They are commonly used in precision stainless steel tube production lines for industries such as instrumentation, medical equipment and automotive applications.
Shaping Rolls for Special Profiles
For square tubes, rectangular tubes, oval tubes and other special-shaped stainless steel tubes, dedicated profile shaping rolls are required. These rolls are designed with special cavity profiles to gradually transform the round tube blank into the target shape. Profile rolls require high machining accuracy and uniform hardness to avoid distortion or dimensional deviation.
Common Material Classifications of Tube Mill Rolls
Although classified by function, rolls are also distinguished by material to adapt to stainless steel forming conditions:
Forged alloy steel rolls: high strength, long service life, suitable for mass production
High-speed steel rolls: excellent wear resistance, used for high-precision sizing and finishing
Alloy chilled cast rolls: cost-effective, widely used in general forming sections
